Lewis Center Framing Project
The cabinet installation company acted recklessly by removing a load-bearing wall without proper support. Simply installing a new header with joist hangers is inadequate, as they're designed for ceiling weight, not second-story floors. The proper procedure includes first installing a temporary support system with steel beams or columns before safely removing the wall. To replace a load-bearing wall, a new one must be constructed using sturdy materials, anchored to the foundation and house framing, and reinforced for structural integrity.
